Habit: Shrub of low branching small tree. Family: Myrtaceae Origin/Habitat: Common on sandy soils on coast west of Westernport, also inland in woodlands and mallee. Foliage: Leaves are dull green in colour, close but alternate, curved, and thick, 5-12mm ´ 1-3mm. Flowers: Summer to autumn. Cylindrical spikes, white to cream in colour, 2-5cm ´ 2cm. Other features for identification: Bark is rough in appearance. Soil preferences: Will grow in moist well drained, wet or dry soil. Cultural tolerances: Place in full or filtered sun position. Can tolerate saline soils. Maintenance requirements: Regular pruning. Uses: Other: Hardy and adaptable. Propagation: By seed. |
