Common name: Kangaroo apple

Height: 4 metres.

Spread: 1-2 metres.

 

Habit: Small erect shrub.

Origin/Habitat: Found mostly in eastern Australia in wet sclerophyll forest and margins of rain forests. 

Soil: It is fast growing and adaptable in all well drained soils and situations. 

Uses:     Ornamental & edible when ripe.

Propagation: Is by seed.

Did you know: This species is under cultivation in New Zealand & eastern Europe & Russia as a source for the steroid Solasodine which is used in oral contraceptives.
