Acacia terminalis

Common Name: Sunshine Wattle

Height: 1-5 metres.

Spread: 2 metres

Habit: Shrub, rarely small tree.

 

 

Family: Mimosaceae

Origin/Habitat: Common in open forests.

Foliage: Dark green in colour. Bipinnate leaves, with 2-6 pairs of pinnae (4-8cm long).

Flowers: Mar-July. Pale to golden yellow.

Other features for identification:  Pods flattish, almost straight, 3-11cm in length often reddish when young.

Soil preferences: Fertilise at plant out with 15gm of 18:2.6:10 NPK slow release.

Cultural tolerances: Requires full sun. Moderately resistant to salt winds, drought, and frost. Wind tolerance – can be placed in the front line of a windbreak.

Common Pest or Disease problems: Needs protection from pests

Maintenance requirements: Low. Add a 9 month fertiliser in spring.

Other: Medium fire risk.

Propagation: Treat seeds with heat.
