Medium shrub. Leaves are flat, stiff, and green on both sides-darkening with age. Flowers from Oct-Dec (Often during autumn also). Crimson flowers, in spikes 5-12cm in length.

Will grow from tropical to cool temperature zones. Adaptable to sun or shade. Resistant to salt winds and frost, moderately resistant drought and pollution. Wind tolerance – can be placed in the front line of a windbreak.
