Medium tree with dull green branchlets. Red flowers in autumn. Male flower spikes 1-3cm.

Good for saline soils and swampland. Likes moist, well drained or wet soils. Will grow from tropical to cool temperature zone in most soils. Adaptable to sun or shade. Resistant to salt winds and saline soils; very resistant to drought; moderately resistant to frost. Wind tolerance – can be placed in the front line of a windbreak.
