Small tree. Leaves dark green above and pale green beneath. Flowers vary in colour from pale pink, to orange and red. Flowering time is from late spring to summer. Bark is light grey, short fibred and scaly. Prefers moist, well drained or dry soils. Requires full sun. Moderately resistant to salt winds, drought and frost. Wind tolerance – can be placed in the second line of a windbreak. Young trees need protection from wind and frost. |
