Common Name: Sticky Wattle

Height: 3-9 metres

Habit: Small tree.

 

 

 

Family: Mimosaceae              

Origin/Habitat: Endemic to Victoria. Moist forests of Strezelecki Ranges.

Foliage: Dark-green foliage on branchlets.

Flowers: In Spring, mostly October. Lemon-yellow.

Other features for identification:  Thin brown pods, hairy on margins.

Soil preferences: Fertilise at plant out with 15gm of 18:2.6:10 N.P.K slow release.

Cultural tolerances:  Adaptable to sun or shade. Moderately resistant to drought, moderately resistant to frost, resistant to pollution. 

Wind tolerance – can be placed in the front line of a windbreak.

Maintenance requirements: Low. Add a 9 month fertiliser in spring.

Uses: Ornamental ,     Bird Attracting &  Windbreak

Other: Medium fire risk.

Propagation: Treat seeds with heat.
