Common Name: Yertchuk / Prickly Stringybark

Habit: Medium tree.

Family: Myrtaceae

Origin/Habitat: Frequent in eastern areas, especially near coastal lowlands.

Foliage: Adult leaves are curved, 9-18cm in length, thick and glossy on both sides. Juvenile leaves are opposite, soon becoming alternate and short-stalked.

Flowers: Nov-Dec.

Other features for identification: Buds 6-14 per cluster. Bark is grey, persistant to small branches, prickly when handled lightly.

Uses:       Firewood & Timber

Other: Wood is of moderate weight, strength and durability. Used for general light construction purposes, but not in quantity. Good fuel.

Propagation: By seed.
